Fellowships - English version

At the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Medical University Innsbruck, per year around ten surgeons come for a fellowship. They stay from four weeks up to a maximum of three months. Therefore it is recommended to contact viktoria.perkhofer@tirol-kliniken.at at a very early stage. 

Every fellow will nearly have the near state of an employee, which comprises a key card, access to IT and PACS, a personnel e-mail address and a pager. Also a white coat and trousers will be provided.


Every fellow has to be registered with the HR-department two months prior to the fellowship, therefore some documents are mandatory:

All fellows

  • Curriculum vitae
  • copy of the passport
  • vaccination card


Fellows who are steadily employed in Austria

  • certificate from the employer that the fellow is steadily employed


Fellows who are steadily employed in a country of the EU


Fellows who are steadily employed in any other country

  • certificate from the employer that the fellow is steadily employed
  • certificate from the insurance company that the stay in Innsbruck will be fully covered
  • certificate that the fellow will receive a fund OR that all costs will be covered on self bases 
  • certificate of medical degree


Housing

Unfortunately we are unable to provide any funding for fellows. But we are happy to assist with organizing rooms or flats within walking distance to the hospital.


Registration at the medical association of Tyrol

Fellows can register at the medical association of Tyrol to enhance the status of an observer. When the fellow is registered he can work under supervision of a senior consultant with patients and assist in surgeries. Without the sanction of the medical association of Tyrol the fellow will only have the status of an observer.

For registration the below mentioned documents (incl. german translation by a certified translator) must be send to Mrs. Perkhofer latest two months prior to the fellowship:

  • certificate of medical degree (incl. translation)
  • certificate of good standing from the medical association (not older than three months)
  • bill of health
  • extract from police records (not older than three months)
  • copy of the passport - with visa if required
  • passport picture

Every document has to be translated into German language by a certified translator as well.
